Job security is not the only security that an employee is looking for. The feeling of being safe and secured even when an emergency strikes within the workplace is also something that employers should render to their employees.

Some employees feel more comfortable and secured at their workplace when there is at least one if not few people who knows how to do emergency first aid. This security issue is usually overlooked by most employers probably because emergencies do not happen very often. Though they may happen very seldom, when these emergencies strike and no one can do something about them, they will surely leave a trauma to the employees. But of course, this can be rather exploited than overlooked. And the first step would be requiring every employee to have a first aid course. In doing so, the employer is building on the attitude of preparedness and responsiveness on its workforce. Also, this would help motivate employees indirectly because this would tell them that they have a new skill and hence perceive it as an additional value to them.

And ultimately, knowing that a colleague is equipped with the knowledge of first aid and capable of executing it, definitely sends a positive message to an employee which will assure him that he will be safe while he is at work. This helps in bringing in camaraderie and developing the sense being responsible for each colleague among employees even at times of disasters.
