It should come as no surprise to learn that many gardening enthusiasts and bearers of the ‘green thumb’ could possibly posses a lot more green than what we see in their prosperous backyards. The kind of ‘green’ that “…doesn’t grow on trees!”- As our parents used to claim whenever we unthinkingly violate the strict budget laid out for us.
Those endowed with talent in cultivating soil and adeptly making green things grow could almost effortlessly put up a lucrative business in the comfort of their on homes; all of it while doing something they consider as their hobby.
The investment to start such a business is literally dirt cheap. All that one would need is a small plot of land that contains the right proportions of earth, sand and clay, water, sunlight, flower pots, some seeds and a lot of diligence and patience. The seeds are not even strictly necessary; most shrubs could grow from cuttings of parent plants. All that needs to be done is to cut off a stem or branch from a healthy plant, put it in water until small roots begin to grow on the severed part an then transfer the small plant to soil.
Ornamental plants sell well to busy homeowners who want to grow lovely gardens and yet do not have the time to actually plant them. Plants that bear fruits and vegetables also bring in a sizable profit.
With gardening as a profitable part-time job, we could confidently refute what our parents used to claim… money does grow! Not just on trees, on herbs and shrubs as well.
